What to expect:
• Learn how light is the essence of photography, creating shape, mood and even
mystery.
• Achieve a new understanding of light and of various ways to control it to fulfil your creative vision.
• Become familiar with speedlights on and off camera. We examine bounce flash, the use of multiple speedlights, speedlights on stands and speedlights used with brollys and softboxes.
• See how flash can easily be mixed with other light sources for balance or effect.
• Learn about studio lighting equipment and techniques. Explore the effects created by different types of light shaping devices such as brollys, reflectors and softboxes, and their use as key lights, fill lights and effect lights.
• See how light can be used for effective and evocative portraits as well as for creating commercially successful product shots.
• Examine metering, tethered shooting, software and the necessary post-production skills to get the best from your images and expand your job horizons.
• There will be a model and a huge range of Profoto lighting for the day.
About Gary Ede
Gary has spent more than thirty years in the photographic industry as a photographer, writer, teacher and consultant. His photographs are held in the collections of the State Library of NSW and the National Library of Australia. He has shot for most of Australia’s major businesses and has completed thousands of editorial assignments for leading publications. Although best known as a people shooter his work has included advertising, architectural and corporate photography.
